- Story Text: Hollywood actor Hugh Jackman wowed his fans during the Japan premiere of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" as he arrived on the red carpet riding a heavyweight Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Hundreds of Jackman fans screamed and waved trying to get a glimpse of the Aussie star driving down the red carpet in a black suit.
Jackman, 40, who is visiting Japan to promote his latest action film, made the fans even more excited as he shared the film's next plan.
"Maybe a couple of years down the track, the next "Wolverine" movie, which is, we think is going to be set in Japan," said Jackman.
In "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," the Australian native played a razor-clawed mutant after his glitzy turn hosting the Oscars and starring in romance "Australia" that flopped at U.S. box offices.
At the premiere in Tokyo, Jackman also told his Japanese fans that the "X-Men" cast is going to need their help when filming in Japan.
"X-Men fans will know the series, the saga set in Japan for "Wolverine" is one of the greatest parts of the "X-Men" franchise and in the comic books, and I've longed to bring that story to the big screen," said Jackman.
"So I'm very excited. I'd like to invite you all to audition, there are gonna be many parts and we are writing the script right now so as soon as it's written and we're cast, I'll let you know when we're gonna be down here to shoot, but there's gonna be a lot of sashimi for Wolverine. Maybe he'll use those claws to cut some sashimi," he added.
Jackman then led his wife Deborra-Lee Furness along the red carpet as the two signed autographs, shook hands and interacted with their fans.
True to its title, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" focuses on the early years of Jackman's character, leaping back to his childhood discovery of claws that spring from his knuckles.
The film, which opened in U.S. theatres in May, introduces moviegoers to the Wolverine that comic book readers know best, when the U.S. government grafts the indestructible metal Adamantium onto his skeleton giving him the razor sharp weapons he wields naturally from his arms.
It was Jackman's fourth turn as tough-talking Wolverine, a role he won in the 2000 film "X-Men," fresh from starring in a London stage production of the musical "Oklahoma!"
Jackman will be returning on stage once again this month on Broadway, joined by the latest "James Bond" Daniel Craig in "A Steady Rain," a play about two Chicago policeman.
Recent Oscar host Jackman is already beloved by New York's theater community and has hosted the Tony Awards several times.
Jackman and Craig are the latest stars to hit the New York stage this year. Others have included Oscar winners Geoffrey Rush and Susan Sarandon and Emmy Award winner James Gandolfini.
"A Steady Rain," by Chicago playwright Keith Huff, was first produced off-Broadway in 2006. It tells the story of two Chicago cops and their differing accounts of a few days that changed their lives.
The play begins preview performances on September 10. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
