- Story Text: Tom Cruise says he is ready to reprise his role as super agent Ethan Hunt in "Mission: Impossible 4" while "Knight and Day" co-star Cameron Diaz says she is ready for a quality vacation.
Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz wowed their Japanese fans at the premiere of their latest film "Knight and Day" in Tokyo on Tuesday (September 28).
Cruise and Diaz walked side-by-side as they waved and greeted over a thousand screaming fans in the audience.
The former "Vanilla Sky" duo spent almost an hour signing autographs and taking pictures with fans along the red carpet.
The romantic-action-comedy sees Cruise as a government super-agent framed for stealing a top secret invention and hunted by his own government. After literally bumping into him at an airport, Diaz's character soon finds herself sucked into his world of espionage.
She also finds herself a target, with Cruise playing the only man who can protect her. The two go on run from the FBI and ruthless arms dealers in a chase that takes them around-the-globe.
Cruise told Reuters Television he is fully ready to play another super agent --- this time in the fourth instalment of the "Mission: Impossible" series.
"I fly out tonight and I start right when I land. So we've been prepping it and we're ready to go," Cruise said.
"We're back in Prague to start the film and it's great locations, big action, got a great cast. I'm really looking forward to working with the actors and we have a great director, Brad Bird. So it's gonna be a lot of fun," he added.
The fourth "Mission: Impossible" is set for release in 2011 and is produced by Cruise and J.J. Abrams, who last teamed up in 2006 for "Mission: Impossible III".
The first two "Mission: Impossible" movies made a combined 1 billion U.S. dollars at global box offices.
The third film's U.S. box office reached 134 million U.S. dollars and was considered a mild disappointment by box office watchers, even though it raked in another 264 million U.S. dollars overseas, proving Cruise's international appeal.
Unlike Cruise, who will be travelling across the world to take on a new role, his co-star Diaz says she is ready for a good vacation.
"I've been relaxing a little a bit and taking some time. This is the last of this tour so, now I can just really have some time off," said Diaz, who just finished shooting her next film "Bad Teacher" this month.
"Knight and Day", directed by James Mangold from a screenplay by Patrick O'Neill, opened in theatres across the U.S. last June and will be released in Japan next month. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
