- Story Text: A Japanese woman was found dead in Indonesia on Monday (June 4) at her home in East Jakarta.
Her neighbours said they found the body of 65-year-old Setsuko Iwata's, who has Indonesian citizenship, in the bathroom, with both legs tied to the shower rail.
Mursyid Pratomo, who lives nearby, said he was one of the neighbours who found the body.
"She (Setsuko Iwata) lived alone, and I hear that she stays at a boarding home too, but it's still unclear. When we went to her house on Monday I saw some builders still there. The smell from the body was bad so we think she passed away on Sunday," he said.
Police said Iwata was renovating a part of her house.
"On Monday, June 4, 2012 approximately 5 p.m. we received a report from residents at Albezia street that they found a body in the bathroom on the second floor at Albezia number 3E. The victim was named Setsuko Iwata, a Japanese who became an Indonesian citizen, aged 65 years old," police chief Hari Purnomo said.
Jakarta police said Iwata was married to an Indonesian man who died several years ago, and has a son who lives in Solo, central Java province.
Police said Iwata, is a staff member of the Japanese embassy in Jakarta. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
