- Story Text: Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko welcomed French President Fran�is Hollande on Friday (June 7) as part of his three day visit to the world's third largest economy.
Children waved Japanese and French flags during the official welcome ceremony at the Imperial Palace for Hollande and France's First Lady, Val�ie Trierweiler.
Later on Friday, Hollande is expected to meet Japanese Prime minister Shinzo Abe.
Hollande is expected to discuss economic matters and seek advice from the Japanese leader on "Abenomics".
