- Story Text: The current International "Green Week" in West Berlin has attracted over twelve hundred exhibitors of foodstuffs and agricultural produce from 40 countries. This annual event is intended for specialist food-producers but also provides a chance for the general public to taste exotic foods from all over the world.
This is the thirty eighth "Green Week" since its inauguration in 1926, when it changed from being an informal gathering of farmers to an international event.
Two sectors have been given special emphasis this year: there is a special cattle breeding section in the animal show, and the Flower Hall has a special exhibition on 'Modern Gardening'.
Food production is one of the many industries affected by the world energy crisis. Farmers are facing a world-wide shortage of oil-based products, especially fertilizers and pesticides.
