- Story Text: The Harry Potter film phenomenon continues with the world wide launch of the first instalment "Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone" on DVD and video. Hagrid, Hermione, Ron and Draco arrived at platform nine and three quarters on The Hogwarts Express to celebrate at a truly magical party.
The world's most famous schoolboy wizard is back to weave his magic and bewitch children and adults alike with the video and DVD launch of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone". Robbie Coltrane, who plays the friendly giant Hagrid, stepped off the Hogwart's Express at London's Kings Cross station on Wednesday night to promote the launch with Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, who play Harry's best friends Hermione and Ron.
Burgundy-suited train guards unloaded school trunks full of the DVDs and videos to cheers from the waiting crowd on platform 9-3/4, from where the train whisks wannabe wizards and witches to Hogwart's school.
Thousands of fans have already ordered copies, and the launch of the DVD and video, whose general release is set for Saturday, is expected to be the most successful ever.
The film had earned $926 million by the end of February, making it the second-highest grossing film on record after romantic blockbuster "Titanic".
The second Harry Potter film, "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets", will reach cinemas in November, while "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix", the fifth book in author J.K.Rowling's series, is due out later this year. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
