- Story Text: Singer and actress Jennifer Lopez has scars after filming a domestic violence scene in 'El Cantante', in which she stars with hubby Marc Anthony she reveals at the Los Angeles, California premiere on Tuesday (July 31) .
"Oh yeah see the scars? I still have them all over my fingers (shows fingers to camera). Marc wore a lot of rings as Hector. Hector used to wear a lot of gold jewellery and we do those fighting scenes even though it wasn't written you know I would push him and sort of scrapping with him and you know it got a little physical and I got scrapped up with the rings. Yeah you know how it is," Lopez told Reuters.
The movie, which is about the life of Hector Lavoe and his tumultuous relationship with his wife, Puchi, is produced by Lopez. Anthony, her real-life husband plays the leading role.
The movie is culturally significant for both performers. Lavoe was Puerto Rican and Lopez and Anthony are both of Puerto Rican descent.
Anthony also grew up listening to Lavoe, who was pivotal in the salsa scene, that began in New York City. Both performers were aggressive about bringing this story to the screen but Anthony says that Lopez's cars are not his fault.
"Oh that was totally not my fault. She got all crazy on the set and hit the extras and tried to attack me and it wasn't scripted. My character had all these really jagged gold rings and somehow her fingers got caught under and she bled for like three days and its peeled the skin on her fingers back. But I said thats what you get for even trying to attack me. You know what I mean," Anthony said on the red carpet.
"El Cantante" opens in the United States theaters on August 3rd.
Lopez and Anthony who have become fats friends with David and Victoria Beckham explained their plans for hanging out with the new Los Angeles resident.
"We haven't even seen them because we haven't even been here you know we haven't seen them at all," said Lopez who wore a white Alberta Ferretti gown. "I am going over to his house after the premiere for a beer," Anthony added.
The hard working couple unveiled plans to tour together in concert for the first time starting this fall.
"Yes now he is taking me on tour so now he will get to be be the boss now. I was the boss then and now he'll get to be boss now," Lopez said.
Lopez and Anthony, who were married back in 2004, will launch the tour on September 29 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and travel throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
