- Story Text: Comedian Robin Williams who openly admitted to checking into rehab for alcoholism this year plays Reverend Frank in his new movie "License to Wed".
"I though the idea of me and anything to do with the church would be kind of a frightening tissue rejection just people go like. You are serious right? Yeah, he is back. You know I think there is a slightly, the interesting thing about this is giving you know, some slight of tools of dealing with premarriage you know besides foreplay which you can always have more of. Guys will go (snaps fingers), " Williams told Reuters in Los Angeles, California.
Williams plays a Protestant minister who forces an engaged couple to go through a gruelling marriage preparatory course.
"I think the key is to really just let him go and do his thing because that's what he is known for. Who am I to interject? Like even begin to add something like to the whole schtick it's like no Robin knows what he is doing. So, you just stand back and giggle and clap and be entertained," Mandy More said of her co-star Williams.
"License to Wed" follows newly engaged Ben Murphy (John Krasinski) and his fiancée, Sadie Jones (Mandy Moore), who has always dreamed of getting married in a traditional wedding at her family church.
The problem is St. Augustine's only has one wedding slot available in the next two years, and its charismatic pastor, Reverend Frank (Robin Williams), won't bless Ben and Sadie's union until they pass his patented, foolproof marriage prep course.
"It's two people who fall in love and basically sort of get blind sided by sort of the bells and whistles of how beautiful is it going to be and romantic. Everything is going great until you meet Reverend Frank who is played by Robin Williams who basically makes sure you know what you are getting into. But instead of just talking it over coffee he has these elaborate tests that sort of get so out of control I don't know who would pass these tests, " Krasinski said.
