- Story Text: Teen queen Amanda Bynes stars as a soccer player who is shut out of a all boys team and decides to take matter into her own hands in "She's the Man".
The film is a modernization of the original "Twelfth Night" by William Shakespeare. In Shakespeare's play shipwrecked Viola (played by Bynes) and her twin brother Sebastian (played in some scenes by Bynes) are separated and washed ashore. In "She's the Man" Viola's girl soccer team is canceled so she goes to another school disguised as her twin brother to play.
Bynes sat in three hours make up daily to become Sebastian and though she said she had a good time she was happy to turn back into her girlie self at the end of each day.
"You sort of become a character and it was fun and you sort of become this different person but every night I would become me again and it was like I have hair and I feel like a girl and it was actually good, " Bynes said.
Actor Vinnie Jones, who portrays Bynes' Coach Dinklage is known for his mobster roles in various Guy Ritchie films but first came to public notice as a professional footballer, playing in the English Football League.
Noted as one of soccer's hard men, he has played for Wimbledon, Leeds United, Sheffield United, Chelsea and Queens Park Rangers and Internationally, he played for Wales.
"Well you know a friend of mine Ian Carrington who runs Hollywood United, which we all play for, that is how the movie came about really. He was training Amanda for six weeks, one on one with her, and Ian spoke to the director and he happened to say he knew me and he said 'We are looking for a coach and that it is and I do not want anyone else' and that is how that came about really," Jones told Reuters.
Channing Tatum, a former model who portrays Bynes love interest Duke in the film, said that after seeing his films he was scared of Vinnie Jones but found him helpful when it came to soccer tips.
"Yeah we do not talk about Vinnie. We are scared of saying anything about him that he might not like. Love you Vinnie. He definitely helped me with little things little nuances", Tatum continued. "Little tiny things that someone that didn't play soccer their whole life would know and he helped with that." - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
