- Story Text: Film star Clint Eastwood said a tabloid news paper should "go back to stories about two-headed monsters" after a jury on Thursday (October 19) awarded him 150,000 United States dollars in a case against the National Enquirer.
The Los Angeles jury found that the tabloid had printed an "exclusive interview" with the movie star that never took place.
The 10-member panel deliberated for four days before finding in Eastwood's favour. Eastwood filed suit on March 3, 1994, and attended each court hearing in the case.
Eastwood claimed in court the December 21, 1993, interview was a fabrication and that the tabloid knew it was bogus.
Lawyers for the Enquirer said it was printed in good faith and that the Academy Award-winning star had a vendetta against the weekly newspaper, normally sold in supermarkets. - Copyright Holder: FILE REUTERS (CAN SELL)
