Summary:1935 - and on December 20 that year, that old warhorse of the skies, the Dakota, first went into airline service. It brought with it a new dimension in passenger comfort - but it was in wartime that the Dakota came into its own. Tough, reliable and easy to fly, thousands of them went into service. Almost half a century after take-off, the Dakota was still flying.
