- Story Text: British au pair Louise Woodward, who has arrived home in Britain, has been reunited with her younger sister Victoria in her home village of Elton in the English county of Cheshire.
At a press conference earlier she denied killing the U.S.
baby in her care and expressed faith that her name would one day be cleared.
Louise Woodward on Thursday (June 18) said at a news conference at Manchester airport, despite the fact she felt very sorry for the death of baby Matthew Eappen she had nothing to do with his death.
She stressed she did not hurt Matthew and did not kill him, adding that she hoped the medical community would take up her case to prove her innocence.
Louise also said she did not sell her story to the papers in America and that she would have an interview with the BBC in Britain for which she would not receive any payment.
In her local village of Elton in Cheshire people were happy to see her back at home.
Christine Gray, Secretary of the Louise Woodward Support Group said she believed Louise would definitely clear her name.
Sandra McCabe, also a member of the Support Group believed the truth would come out since scientific evidence supporting Louise's innocence was there.
Meanwhile, the BBC on Thursday (June 18) confirmed it was negotiating to secure the first full interview with Woodward - in a deal involving no payments of any kind. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
