- Story Text: A museum in honour of Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo attracted visitors on Monday (March 27) as the soccer star was about to play for the first time with his national squad in his birthplace.
The CR7 original museum was opened by Ronaldo in 2013 on the seafront in Funchal and was moved last year to a bigger building with a display space spread over two stories and 1,400 square metres.
A 3.4-metre-high bronze statue of the Real Madrid striker welcomes visitors at the entrance.
Administrators of the museum say it currently attracts 200,000 visitors per year who want to see exhibits of the player's trophies, boots and childhood photographs. Ronaldo's three Ballon d'Ors are also on display.
Cristiano Ronaldo and the rest of the Portugal squad landed in his home island of Madeira on Monday (March 27) ahead of a friendly international against Sweden and the renaming of the island's airport in his honour. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
