Summary:August 30 1936 is a significant date in the history of television. From its original television studio at Alexandra Palace in north London, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) made the first direct transmission. This brief show was fed to the Radio Show exhibition in central London, where it was seen on TV screens at the BBC stand. And it led the way to the world's first public television broadcasts, little more than two months later.
