- Story Text: Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra met South Korean President Lee Myung-bak in Seoul on Saturday (March 24), two days ahead of the Nuclear Security Summit.
The two leaders attended an official welcoming ceremony at Seoul's Presidential Blue House before holding a meeting.
The leaders were to discuss on strengthening bilateral cooperation and exchanges, according to Lee's presidential office.
Seoul's Yonhap News agency reported on Wednesday (March 20) Yingluck said the nuke summit would present a good opportunity to help countries around the world prevent the threat of nuclear terrorism at the interview with Korean correspondents in Bangkok.
The agency added Thailand wanted to learn South Korea's know-how and skills on water-management projects following devastating floods that pummeled the country's industrial sector last year.
This is Prime Minister Yingluck's first visit to South Korea, while Lee visited Thailand twice in 2009.
The two countries have maintained close relations since Thailand sent troops to South Korea during the 1950-53 Korean War and established diplomatic ties in 1958. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
