- Story Text: South Koreans lined up to buy iPhone 5 on Friday (December 7), four months after the launch of Apple's latest gadget.
A store selling the smartphone was crowded with about five hundred people waiting to buy it despite heavy snow.
"I stayed up all night (at home) and came here at 5 a.m. I am very excited about the release and cannot wait to touch it. It feels like time is passing very slowly right now," said 26-year-old Park Hyun-jin, who was waiting in the long line.
After a countdown from ten, the store opened its doors to customers at 8.00 a.m. (2300 GMT Thursday). A man at the very front of the queue entered the store as the first customer while others cheered.
"I waited since 2 p.m. yesterday and have became the first person to get the phone. I feel very pleased thinking about utilizing this phone in so many ways from now on," said the first customer, 27-year-old Park Seul-ki.
The iPhone 5 has been one of Apple's most aggressive international rollouts to date.
The phone was released in the United States on September 21, but South Korean customers have had to wait about four months to buy the product.
The gadget will go on sale in another 50 additional countries by the end of the year. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
