- Story Text: Thirty Playboy Playmates strutted on the runway to help designer Betsey Johnson launch her Spring 2001 collection in a flashy show on Tuesday evening (September 19) in New York.
Johnson recently disclosed that surgery to replace a breast implant discovered a small cancerous tumour on the designer, but she is now doing well and cancer free.
Designer Betsey Johnson used all her assets to display her Spring 2001 Collection -Thirty Playboy Playmates to be exact. Booming Disc Jockey music played as the titilated packed-to-capacity crowd watched the Bunnies take the stage.
Johnson's clothes were disco-flashy-Marilyn Monroe inspired creations meant for the playful, sassy extrovert.
Exaggerated Halloween costumes highlighted the October section of the show, while a "Bunny Bride" captured the month of June.
Flirty, soft floral dresses highlighted the month of July and April showcased the Denim "Hot-to-Trot pant and jacket with spandex tube top. Johnson said it's always been her dream to work with the playmates. Said Johnson, "The clothes really are made for them, they're sexy, they're glamorous, they're Hollywood."
The Funk fashion queen, 58, announced this week that a breast implant may have saved her life. While undergoing routine breast augmentation replacement surgery, doctors discovered a small cancerous tumour. A lumpectomy was performed to remove the cancerous growth and radiation completed the treatment.
Early detection is the key to Johnson's recovery. She says ,"I'm clear of it and healthy...if you get your mammograms every year, I know you can catch it early."
