Dolly Buster, born Katja Nora Bochnickova, recently rejoined the NEI Independent Initiative Party's bid to run for the European Parliament after pulling out following a disagreement with party representatives.
"At the time we had some arguments because I realised that our views were not the same so I decided to withdraw my candidacy", Dolly Buster told Reuters Television during a photo shooting for campaign posters in Prague.
"But then I received hundreds of e-mails every day from people in the Czech Republic who wrote that they would have voted for me because they are fed up with voting for the same businessman-types who do nothing for them except rake in money."
Three weeks later, Buster changed her mind and is now once again trying to win a seat for NEI in the European Parliament.
"The message of my party is to show people: we are totally normal people with practical experience, not politicians who studied theory but unfortunately know nothing about real life."
"Our party stands for freedom and liberalism," Buster said.
The blonde, who says she was born in 1969, emigrated to West Germany with her parents at age fourteen "with absolutely nothing" from what was then the East bloc country of Czechoslovakia.
Buster pulled out of the active sex business in 1997 and remains the owner of the Dolly Buster sex store chain.
She is proud of her past successes and says "I am totally behind my company and behind what I do."
"Maybe the Czechs are like the Americans: they want successful people who have already accomplished something and appreciate any kind of show."
According to Buster, "recent polls vary between thirty and seventy percent of votes" which Czechs may give her.
At least one Prague resident said he did not feel "represented by her because I think its more of a joke thing than something serious."
The Czech Republic and nine other countries join the European Union on May 1 and some six weeks later, citizens of all 25 member states vote in the European Parliament elections. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
