Summary:Guglielmo Marconi was 21 when he demonstrated his first wireless apparatus at London in 1896. The following year, he was able to transmit radio signals across twelve miles. But his greatest triumph was the transmission of wireless across the Atlantic in 1901 and it caused a sensation and revolutionised communications everywhere. Marconi, Nobel Physics prize winner 1909 and virtual inventor of radio, died on July 20, 1937 at the age of 63.
