- Story Text: Zenvo Automotive is giving three U.S. residents the rare opportunity to become the owners of a $1.8 million (USD) sports car.
The Danish automakers has brought three of their fifteen rare supercars, dubbed the ST1, to U.S. shores to be sold exclusively by Emporio Motor Group in New Jersey. The president of the Emporio Motor Group, Bobby Khan, said the fight to own one of the cars has already begun.
"The demand is big because it's only 15 units. And think about it, 15 for the whole world and there are more and more millionaires on a daily basis. And obviously every time somebody has money they want to set themselves apart from the rest of the world - so they want to have the next best thing. This being such a limited amount for the U.S. - only three people will have it," Khan told Reuters.
Zenvo Automotive was established in 2004 by Dutchmen Jesper Jensen and Troels Vollertsen. The duo created the car company with one objective in mind: to create a one-of-its-kind hand-made super car. After years of research and development for the prototype the company produced their first ST1 in 2009.
Each of the 15 cars will be 100 percent built in Denmark, with each automobile taking roughly eight months to complete. Buyers will be able custom design their car by selecting their colors, leather and tires. In addition, each purchaser will be gifted a $49,000 (USD) Aspen Zenvo watch.
Kahn explained how the American models will differ from the rest of the world, saying: "The U.S. model is a ST150 S gives you 1,250 horsepower, 7 speed F1 transmission and a base price of $1.8 million. Which sets it apart from the rest of the world - the rest of the gets 1,110 horsepower, 1,114 actually, with a manual transmission," said Khan, who said the price tag for the car overseas is $1.4 million.
The cars specs include an impressive turbo and supercharged 7-litre V8 engine and the ability to hit speeds of 233 mph (375 kmh). However, engineers and designers worked closely to guarantee that each vehicle would not only meet racing standards, but also be suited for practical everyday use. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
