- Story Text: Even 25 years on it appears Bruce Willis' days of killing the bad guy and living to tell about it are far from over. Willis is now back as John McClane in his fifth Die Hard movie, "A Good Day To Die Hard," which premiered in Berlin on Monday (February 4).
Director John Moore, actors Jai Courtney and Willis brought a bit of Hollywood glitz to the gray skies over Berlin when they walked the red carpet.
In the latest chapter, Hungary is doubling for Russia and Willis is once again having a bad day whilst trying to save his son Jack McClane, played by 26-year-old Australian actor Courtney.
But even with an heir apparent on the rise, the 57-year-old Hollywood star told Reuters he's still there to save the day but might just be looking for some help.
"It would be nice, I mean, if something happens, if I get hurt, I would like to work with Jai again. I think he is a great actor and a great guy to play my son, but it's not quite time to pass the baton", Willis said.
The rumor, that some believe the young Australian co-star playing Willis character's son Jack might be able to take the 'Die Hard' franchise even further, is not new to Courtney.
"I think the media have had more fun with that than I have," he said. "I certainly haven't been thinking about it too much. I think for now it's just about 'A Good Day To Die Hard' and you know, we are very proud of this film. Look, if I got a call to, you know, come back into the franchise for future projects, then I would of course willingly oblige. But whether that's with or without Bruce, we'll have to wait and see. I think he has got a few more in him yet."
In "A Good Day To Die Hard" John McClane travels to Russia to help out his seemingly wayward son, Jack, only to discover that Jack is a CIA operative working to prevent a nuclear-weapons heist, causing the father and son to team up against underworld forces.
Directed by John Moore, most of the film was shot in Hungary over a three month period.
Moore said that he was intrigued by the need to finding a new twist in the saga about the New York cop who has seen and done it all, and promised the audience quite a bit of action.
"A lot! Big, big, big, big, big action. We are bringing John McClane to Moscow, it's the first time he has ever been outside America, so the movie is way, way, way, way bigger than before."
The film had suffered a set back after a fire on-set destroyed part of a structure on July 5. Film studio 20th Century Fox issued a statement, saying "No one was injured by the flames, which occurred during a pyrotechnics stunt."
Willis was not on the set at the time of the accident.
Filming has also involved the Hungarian military with an MI-24 helicopter being used to film scenes shot over Budapest.
Last week Bruce Willis was immortalized at Fox studios lot with a giant mural in honor of the 25th anniversary of the "Die Hard" movie franchise. The larger-than-life picture captures a scene from the original 1988 film.
