- Story Text: Mexican authorities announced on Thursday (March 4) they had captured four members of the gang responsible for the kidnapping of soccer star Jorge Campos' father.
The father of Mexico's colourful goalkeeper Jorge Campos on February 17, was the latest in a series of crimes against high-profile targets.66-year-old Alvaro Campos was released unharmed on February 23 in return for a what police say was a 63,000 U.S.dollar ransom.
On Thursday (March 04), police in the Pacific resort city of Acapulco in southern Guerrero state made the four suspects, arrested on Wednesday, pose for news photographers and reporters while holding handguns.
Guerrero state prosecutor Servando Alanis told reporters the gang originally asked for 2 million U.S.dollars in ransom for Alvaro Campos.
Police continue to seek nine other suspects in the kidnapping. - Copyright Holder: FILE REUTERS (CAN SELL)
