- Story Text: Sandra Bullock arrives in Sydney to promote her latest movie, Miss Congeniality 2.
Sandra Bullock arrived in Sydney on Wednesday (March 17, 2005) to promote her new film, "Miss Congeniality Two."
In 2000, Bullock regaled audiences playing Gracie Hart, an undercover FBI agent at the Miss America beauty pageant, in the Donald Petrie-directed comedy hit, "Miss Congeniality."
The sequel, "Miss Congeniality 2: Armed And Fabulous,"
directed by John Pasquin is releasing in theatres globally this week-- but this time, there is no love interest for Gracie Hart.
"I think there is some fear from the studio when there is a girl in a film, or some girls in a film - to not give them a love interest. But there is a lot of interest in this. I do think that in comedy pain is a lot more fun to watch people go through than bliss. You know, if I was really happy in this film why would anyone show up. I think it is more fun to knock people down to see how they are going to stand back up again. I think getting dumped is something that everyone should experience once in their lifetime," Sandra Bullock said.
The movie features the decidedly lacklustre FBI agent having to go undercover as a Las Vegas showgirl.
It also also stars Regina King as her FBI partner, William Shatner and Diedrich Bader. King was last seen in the film "Ray" about singer Ray Charles.
Bullock talked about the pressures on actresses to have plastic surgery.
The actress, who is 40-years old, denied she has had any cosmetic surgery and said she planned to accept growing old.
"But people can grow more beautiful with their personality and I think that is everlasting. We are all going to grow old and fat and everything is going to slide.
I want to be really comfortable when I'm old. Still feel good, still feel sexy, be healthy. I love when I see people who are in their seventies, happy, feel good, sexy, comfortable. I aspire to be Ida. I aspire to be Ida Flamenbaum."
Bullock, who starred and also produced the film was last seen in the headlines denying rumours that she had turned down the Oscar-winning Hillary Swank role in Million Dollar Baby. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
