- Story Text: International military bands festival "Spasskaya Bashnya" [or the Kremlin's Saviour Tower] opened on Moscow's Red Square on Saturday (August 31) with a grand show, involving over 1,500 military musicians from all over the world.
It is the sixth time Moscow holds an intentional military music festival, with the first festival held in 2009.
This year's event welcomed participants from 10 countries. Bands from Serbia, Armenia, Ireland, Turkey, Kazakhstan, China, Italy and Ireland along with Russian President's military band took part in the opening ceremony on the Red Square.
Festivals organisers claim that the event gathers the best artistic groups and musicians from across the world. Performers wear traditional uniforms and play folk instruments.
The festival will last five days, with military bands performing in various parts of Moscow throughout the day and with daily evening shows on the Red Square.
The closing ceremony will take place on September 7.
