- Story Text: INTRO: About 130 Greek soldiers with armoured vehicles have arrived in Albania as part of the Italian-led multinational force.
-------------------------------------------------------------------- The Greeks arrived on board the Samos on Friday (April 18), meeting up with compatriots and some of the Italian forces.
They were then moving on to Vlore, where 52 violent deaths have been registered since Albania slid into near-anarchy earlier this year.
A final group of Italian forces also arrived on Friday.
Armed unrest erupted in Albania in late February when protests over the collapse of fraudulent investment schemes mushroomed into insurrection in much of the south.
The 6,000-strong international force, which also includes troops from Turkey, Spain, Romania, Denmark and Austria, is expected to become fully operational within three weeks. The first major humanitarian aid delivery is expected by the weekend.
