- Story Text: Boxing bantamweight world champion Yokthai Sir Oar has beaten Venezuelan Jeus Rohas on points to retain his title in Bangkok.
In Friday's (August 8) bout the home fighter struggled to beat the Venezuelan and had to battle it out for the full 12 rounds.
Rohas was the fourth challenger to be defeated by Yokthai since he took the World Boxing Association (WBA) junior bantamweight title.
Judges awarded Yokthai an unanimous points victory over Rohas after a heated contest. Yokthai won the title last August by knocking out Alimi Goitia, another Venezuelan.
The three neutral judges all scored in favour of the Thai champion: 116-112, 115-114 and 116-114.
Both Yokthai and Rohas exchanged blows throughout the contest but the Venezuelan challeenger fought most of the time with his back to the ropes, responding with short upper-cuts.
Keeping a tight guard throughout the contest, Rohas used his experience to fight back from a defensive position.
Yokthai said before the fight that he would knock out the Venezuelan, but despite dominating the contest, he failed to fulfil his pre-match boast.
