- Story Text: Bodies of tourists who were killed when their tour boat sank in Vietnam's scenic Halong Bay were in a morgue on Friday (February 18) waiting to be claimed by family members.
Ngo Van Hung, Director of the Halong Bay Management Department told Reuters the rescue team rescued 15 people, including nine foreign tourists and six crew from the boat that capsized on Thursday (February 17) and recovered 12 bodies.
Immigration police of the province said they believed the foreigners who drowned were two Americans, two Russians, two Swedes, and one each from Britain, Japan, France and Switzerland.
They were believed to be in the boat cabin when it sank and the the recovered bodies were sent to Bai Chay Hospital for identification.
Halong Bay, about 200 kilometres (125 miles) northeast of Hanoi, is one of Vietnam's top tourist attractions, drawing tens of thousands of domestic and overseas visitors each year, many of whom take overnight boat tours. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
