- Story Text: As war crimes suspect Radovan Karadzic is extradited from Serbia and due to appear in the International Criminal Tribunal for The Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in The Hague on charges of genocide, survivors of the Srebrenica massacre calls for all war criminals to be brought to justice.
"I could be partially satisfied only if all the war criminals were arrested, because it was not only Karadzic and Mladic. All of Srebrenica is full of people like Karadzic and Mladic. When I walk in Srebrenica they all look at me like Karadzic and Mladic would," Mejra Djogaz, who lost her husband, three sons and grandson said.
Former wartime commander of the police in Srebrenica, Hakija Meholjic said the Karadzic trial will shed light over many events during the war.
"I know that many things will be revealed and many things will be made public about the war in Bosnia, which includes things that happened in 1995 in Srebrenica when genocide was committed," Meholjic said.
Bosnian Serb wartime president Karadzic, wanted for planning and ordering Europe's worst atrocities since World War Two, was arrested on Monday (July 21) after 11 years on the run.
Karadzic was indicted along with his army commander, General Ratko Mladic, for genocide at Srebrenica, where some 8,000 unarmed Bosnian Muslim males were rounded up and murdered and bulldozed into mass graves in July 1995.
Thirteen years after massacre families and relatives of Srebrenica victims are still looking for the remains of their loved ones who lie hidden in some of hundreds of mass graves spread in eastern Bosnia.
More than 3,000 massacre victims have been buried at a memorial centre built in Potocari, but thousands of others remain to be found and identified.
War crimes suspect Karadzic will appear before the U.N. war crimes tribunal in The Hague for the first time on Thursday (July 31) , the court said, and will be asked to enter a plea to the charges against him. The former Bosnian Serb leader, who faces charges of genocide for his actions in the 1992-95 Bosnia war, is due in court at 4 p.m. (1400 GMT) on Thursday before judge Alphons Orie. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
