- Story Text: Amid internal talks on a possible referendum on a Palestinian statehood manifesto on Tuesday (June 6) Israel struck rocket launchers in Gaza who continued to pound southern Israel.
Several hundreds of mourners marched through the Jabalya refugee camp in Gaza for two members of the Popular Resistance Committees killed by an Israeli missile on Monday (June 5).
Four rockets fired from Gaza struck an Israeli border town on Tuesday, lightly wounding a woman, the army said.
Masked gunman of the Salah a-Din militant group claimed responsibility for the rocket fire and said the salvo of rockets was in retaliation for the killing of the Gaza militants in the Israeli air strike.
"Committees of Islamic resistance announces that the Majdi Hamad brigades has hit what is called the town of Sderot, using four rockets called Nasser three, this is in retaliation to the cowardly assassination of one of our heros and leaders Majdi Hamad," said one masked gunmen at a rocket launchpad in Gaza in ameteur video distributed to media.
Two rockets hit open areas in the town, causing no damage or casualties.
The Israeli army responded with artillery fire tagetting rocket launchpads in the northern Gaza Strip, the army said in a statement.
