- Story Text: Bosnian Government troops were celebrating recent military success on mountains south-east of Sarajevo on Wednesday (June 14) as speculation mounted over the build-up of troops elsewhere.
Recent television pictures showed Bosnian Government troops fighting against Bosnian Serbs on frontlines around Mount Treskavica. Bosnian Government troops were reported to have taken the mountain.
Mount Treskavica is said to be strategic because whoever controls the high ground, controls the corridor to Goradze. The Bosnian Government is also said to have taken strategic points around Goradze in recent days.
Bosnian officials say that there are high concentrations of Bosnian Serb troops around the mountain itself.
On Tuesday United Nations spokesmen, who declined to be named, reported that up to 30,000 Bosnian government troops were gathering north of Sarajevo, possibly to try to break the Serb siege of Sarajevo.
