  • Story Text: Venezuela, which has produced more Miss Worlds and Miss Universes than any other country over the last 20 years, is after more glory.
    Twenty six hand-picked hunks have gone through their final paces for the Mister Venezuela contest.
    Sporting a tuxedo and a pearly white smile, Luis Nery walked away with the trophy and new sports car after the jury awarded him the title of Mister Venezuela 2000.
    This year's pageant opened up with an elaborate dance performed by couples dressed in glittering disco costumes.
    When the contestants appeared on stage, hundreds of women broke into cheers and applause.
    Venezuela is world renowned for its appetite for beauty queens, holding more international beauty crowns than any other country -- five Miss World and four Miss Universe.
    Back in 1996, when Mister Venezuela pageant was first held, it did not seem likely to succeed, however, with its fifth edition, it has gained momentum.
    Winners walk away with an array of prizes including a sports car and numerous opportunities to break into modeling and acting.
