  • Story Text: The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences
    continued its annual tradition of having all the Oscar
    nominees over for lunch on Monday in Los Angeles.

    Everyone from Brazilian actress Fernanda Montenegro to
    Italian filmmaker Roberto Benigni to the Australian contingent
    of Geoffrey Rush, Cate Blanchette and Rachel Griffiths turned
    up at the luncheon, held each year to allow the nominees to
    socialize together before the big night.

    This year, the big night is on Sunday, March 21, when the
    71st Annual Academy Awards will be handed out at the Dorothy
    Chandler Pavilion in downtown Los Angeles.

    Other nominees who attended Monday's luncheon included
    second-time nominees Brenda Blethyn and Billy Bob Thornton,
    Best Actor candidates Ian McKellen, Edward Norton and Nick
    Nolte and director Steven Spielberg.

    Most of the nominees talked about how they're coping with
    the challenges and joys of Oscar season and how they're
    getting ready for Oscar night.
