- Story Text: Belgrade's Red Star secured a healthy 3-0 lead over rivals Partisan 3-0 (2-0) on Wednesday (May 8) in the first leg of the Yugoslav cup final.
Heavy rain falling throughout the first half and into the middle of the second could not take the sparkle out of Red Star.
They took the lead within eight minutes when Zoran Jovicic scored.
Shortly before the interval, Nebojsa Krupnikovic made it 2-0, triggering an impromptu fireworks display.
Red Star fans among the 30,000 crowd were rewarded again soon after the break when Bratislav Zivkovic made it 3-0 in the 51st minute with a fine shot.
Scuffling broke out after a nasty tackle by Red Star's Dejan Stankovic, who was one of nine players booked. Partizan's Albert Nadj was sent off.
Two minutes from time, Partizan were awarded a penalty, but Zvonko Milojevic tipped Damir Cakar's low shot past the post.
The second leg of the final is on Wednesday (May 15).
