  • Story Text: Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, Chairman of Libya's revolutionary council visited Colonel Nasser at his home on the eve of the tripartite talks between Egypt Libya and the Sudan, aimed at strengthening military and political links between the three neighbouring countries.

    Sudan is represented by the Prime Minister, Major General Gaafar el Nimeiry. The meeting follows their first tripartite conference in Tripoli last December and the summit of "Front-Line" Arab countries which ended in Cairo on Monday (9 Feb.).

    The Libyan revolutionary government have warned the Palestine guerilla groups that if they do not unite, new methods will be adopted to bypass them to reach "the real base of the Palestine people."
    The Libyan leader, Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, said in an interview with the Egyptian weekly magazine, Rose El Youssef, that his government had consistently backed and would continue to back the Palestine revolution. "We have tried to unify the guerilla organisations. We will not stop our efforts in this respect" he said.

    "But if the guerilla groups do not unite, we will adopt new methods that would bypass all organisations to reach the real base of the Palestinian people, who know neither the left nor the right." Col. Gaddafi said. The Col. gave the interview in Tripoli before leaving and before the present tension between Palestine guerilla groups in Jordan and the Jordanian government. He went on to say that the Palestine people were being torn apart by philosophies which did not serve the cause of liberating their land.

    The three heads of state, President Nasser of Egypt, Major-General Jaafar el Nimeiry, Chairman of the Sudanese Revolutionary Council, and Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, Chairman of Libya's Revolutionary Command Council held closed talks for half an hour before the formal session at the Kubbeh Republican Palace on Thursday, (12 Feb.)
