- Story Text: American artist Spencer Tunick has worked with naked bodies for the last ten years, photographing them or filming video footage of them and their interaction with the environment. This was the first time Tunick worked in a flower field.
Amongst the blossoming tulips and windmills passers-by watched as 150 naked people descended on the field.
Walking around with a megaphone and a photo-camera, usually on ladders overlooking the models from the top, Tunick changed four sets in two hours.
"There was a great morning for these people, I think, they'll never look at a tulip in the same way", he told Reuters. The event was organized by Dream Amsterdam, a foundation trying to bring international artists to the Netherlands. It was also a reminder of Spencer Tunick's future installation with up to 4000 naked models on Sunday June 3, at the secret location in the heart of Amsterdam. Tunick's record so far was 7000 naked models in a single photograph.
"I was very curious how he would organize the whole thing, how rebellious people to be, which did not turn out to be so much. People are exposed, but we are all equally exposed, so it's kind of normalizing, " one of the models, choreographer Jack Gallagher, said to Reuters after the shoot.
After the last, "windmill shot" was done, Tunick thanked his naked models for their participation. Each model will get a photograph. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
