- Story Text: German champions Bayern Munich returned to their home training ground on Monday (August 2) for its first practice session after the World Cup.
German internationals Philipp Lahm, Thomas Mueller and goalkeeper Joerg Butt were the first to enter the training ground while some 20 dedicated fans watched, several of them with their young children.
Bayern fan Michael Braeunling from Dresden was pleased with the team selection for upcoming season.
"I would think that with this kind of team they will be playing up front for the German championship."
"Other teams also increased their forces such as Schalke 04 or Dortmund and I predict a tight outcome," said Braeunling.
Joerg Werner from Kassel, a true supporter of the Bavarian club told Reuters Television: "There is just no better club than Bayern Munich. Simple."
According to the club, defender Daniel van Buyten had to miss Monday's training after he suffered a ligament strain two days earlier during a third division game against Wacker Burghausen.
Bayern's season kicks off on August 16 with a German Cup trophy match against fifth-tier side Germania Windeck, Louis van Gaal's team will then open the new Bundesliga season with a game against VfL Wolfsburg at Munich's Allianz Arena on August 20. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
