A German zoo has introduced a two and a half-week old baby hippo to a wider audience on Tuesday (December 16) and said that it already weighed 40 kilograms.
The small hippo, which yet has to be named, has until now spent time only with its mother, away from the other hippos kept at Berlin zoo.
33-year-old hippo mom "Kathi" gave birth to her second baby on November 29, the first time in four years that a hippo gave birth in Berlin.
Hippos, which have their natural habitats in Africa only, were added to the Red List of endangered species in 2006, according to Berlin zoo. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
