Summary:London on the night of December 29 1940. On that night Hitler's Luftwaffe made a determined attempt to destroy the ancient city of London - the core of the British capital. Hundreds of incendiary bombs were dropped and the area became a mass of flames. There were few civilian casualties and most of the buildings hit in the aerial blitz were churches and buildings of historic interest.
