    Jorgen Persson of Sweden, ranked No.1 in the world, defeated Jean-Philippe Gatien of France to win the World Cup table tennis tournament on Saturday (September 14).

    It took him only thirty two minutes to win 21-14, 21-16, 25-23, and pick up 20,000 dollars in first prize money.Gatien, ranked sixth in the world and France's top player, won 12,000.

    Earlier Saturday, Persson, 25, defeated fellow Swede Jan-Over Waldner 15-21, 21-19, 21-18, 22-20 in the semi-final.Gatien defeated Jean-Michel Saive of Belgium 21-19, 21-17, 21-14 in his semi.The tournament, which began Wednesday, brought together the World's top 16 male players.

    In the match for third and fourth place, Waldner defeated Saive 21-14, 20-22, 21-12.
