Pop musician Eric Clapton on Saturday thrilled a crowd of close to 100,000 people at a concert in the Mozambican capital of Maputo to mark the end of his three-year world tour.
It was the first time a musician of Clapton's fame has played in Mozambique, one of Africa's poorest countries.
Clapton's tour took him all through southern Africa where he played for no charge, donating most of his takings to charity. The stadium where the concert was held was ringed by heavily armed military and police units.
The concert came as a breather for the country which has been ravaged by a 14-year-old civil war between the Marxist Frelimo government and the rebel group Renamo.
