  • Story Text: Italian porn star and former parliamentary deputy La Cicciolina (Ilona Staller) kissed and cuddled on Friday (September 8) with Russian ultranationalist leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky in a Moscow night club.

    Zhirinovsky showed up early at Moscow's Up and Down nightclub, where La Cicciolina was due to give a midnight topless performance.

    When she arrived in Moscow, La Cicciolina told journalists she asked to meet Zhirinovsky out of "curiosity".

    The Russian hard-liner warned reporters not to use any footage to compromise his reputation, and suggested they all - journalists, he, and La Cicciolina - sleep together.

    "That way you can film me and I will film you. You will see how potent I am, and I'll see that you cannot do anything," he said.

    When La Cicciolina drew up in a limousine, Zhirinovsky took her under his arm and the two kissed several times for the cameras.

    Inside the club, Zhirinovsky spoke admiringly about the former legislator, saying: "Here she is, modern Europe, the end of the 20th century. No guns, no war - just l'amore." While Zhirinovsky nuzzled her neck, La Cicciolina said, "We understand each other" in Russian.

    From an early age the 43-year-old Hungarian-born La Cicciolina (Cuddles) worked hard on a public image which earned her a hard-core radio slot and a ban from Italy's state television company.

    In 1987 she entered parliament on a wave of enthusiasm for her bared breasts. The parliamentary immunity she gained when she was elected to the Lower House as a Radical Party deputy must have come as a relief from a stream of obscenity charges.
