- Story Text: The 10th run of the international Short Film Festival (Shorts!) shows more than 80 short films from 32 countries from all around the world.
The films, with a duration of no more than 30 minutes, are screened in nine sections, with the international competition presenting 16 films from 14 countries.
"The short film is usually a film that young filmmakers start their career with. They learn on it and demonstrate if they are able to direct a feature movie," said Shorts! Program Director Karel Spesny.
"In the ideal case the short film cannot be transferred into a feature movie. It is common that when someone tries to do a feature film from a successful short film that he usually doesn't succeed," he added.
The Short! festival has its special fan base of people who love film and constantly look for new inspirations and directions.
„This festival exists only for the viewers," Spesny said.
„We are trying to select clever and interesting films, which will hopefully entertain the viewers. We are most satisfied when the people like the films we selected for the festival, when they find it clever and interesting and feel the need to speak about it afterwards."
The festival's international jury is composed of film experts, directors and artists from Bulgaria, Finland and the Czech Republic. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
