  • Story Text: A week-long international inventors fair - Eureka 75 - opened at the Centre International Rogier in Brussels on Saturday (29 November) and it will run until 7 December.

    Hundreds of inventions from 28 countries are on display and because of increased applications for participation this year the organisers have increased the exhibition area to house the exhibits.

    The Fair is an annual event and it is expected that nearly a thousand researchers from five continents will meet during the Fair to present the results of research work they have been doing for industrial, manufacturing and purchasing groups.

    The range of inventions is extensive and ingenious. One that is creating a lot of interest is the Swiss made Readymatic - a machine which takes a patient' blood sample, analyses it then produces a colour identity photo of the subject within five minutes.

    The Fair is organised annually by the Brussels Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with several inventors' organisation.

    SYNOPSIS:The international inventors fair - Eureka Seventy Five - opened at the Centre International Rogier in Brussels on Saturday. Hundreds of exhibits designed by inventors from twenty-eight countries were on display.

    With cycling making a big comeback all over the world this Speedy bike is catching the eye of young and old and could capture a big corner of the cycle market.

    In juries sustained from lifting and shifting awkward and heavy objects leave many workers incapacitated, sometimes for life, and many man-hours can be lost in the process. This French-made invention - the Manumac - may be the solution.

    From Vietnam - these delightful transformable puppets. Parents who are fed up of reading the kids stores could perhaps give them a theatrical treat instead.

    Escabochar - a three in one invention. A trolley, folding ladder then back into a workbench. And it comes complete with a tool box.

    A Swiss invention that's creating a lot of interest. In five minutes the Readymatic takes a patient's blood sample, analyses it and prints an identity photograph.

    Throw your old plunger away. Blocked drains will be no longer a problem - this new technique using high pressurised steam is surely the answer.
