- Story Text: European companies have been showing off their innovative wares in Pristina in a bid to obtain a slice of the reconstruction action in the wake of the destruction caused by NATO's bombing campaign.
A Swiss company, Tronco, displayed its new metallic pipe house at a UNHCR warehouse on the outskirts of the capital on Saturday (August 7).
The frame of the house takes less than three hours to construct and is made completely of galvanized steel.
Ethnic Albanian workers, who had never seen the design before, worked in the baking sun to put the house together complete with windows and doors.British KFOR troops who had heard about the construction were on hand to watch.
Major Mark Haignes said that he was impressed by the design and the speed of construction. He added that it would make a change from living in tented accomodation.
Tronco director Alejandro Stein said that it was a revolutionary idea and that he expected it to be of interest to the various peackeeping armies, non-government organisations and international organisations. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
