  • Story Text: The avant garde producers in the Indonesian film industry are those now defying the old taboos which have prevented the inclusion of kissing and bedroom scenes. The move to include love scenes is an effort to counter the stiff competition from imported movies.

    Film producer, Turino Djunaidy, has included some kissing and bedroom scenes in his latest movie, The Wild Ones, and film fans will see actor Ratno Timoer kissing actress Sylvia Ironi Engels, and in a bedroom scene Farouk Afero and Datin Judha. Each scene was carefully rehearsed.

    Mr. Djunaidy has the approval of the Indonesian Board of Censors provided the sexy scenes are an integral part of the film's story.

    Until now the censors have followed strict Moslem traditions and have always frowned upon the portrayal of sex, in even its mildest forms, in films, but audiences have displayed strong preferences for the more daring and liberal foreign productions.
