- Story Text: 2,000 tons of Wing Peng from Panama visits Phnom Penh four times. She brought rice bags from Bangkok to Phnom Penh for feeding chronically starved 2 million P. Penh people. 90 meter long and 11 Knot speed Wing Peng has 31 crews. Out of 31 crews, Captain, navigator, radio officer and engineer are from Hongkong and the other 27 crews are Cambodian nationals. 28 years old Japanese built Wing Peng were attacked by Khmer insurgents for three times but there were almost no damages. Steering room and engine room are firmly protected by sandbags. Captain receives 4,000 HK$, Navigator 1,800 HK$, radio officer 2,000 engineer 3,400 HK$ with 50 % of danger bonus during they travel danger zone (from S. Vietnam to P. Penh) If they travel danger zone for 15 days, captain receives 6,000 HK$ monthly (monthly salary 4,000 plus 50 % of danger bonus 2,000 HK$). The crews visit dancing hall or Chinese restaurant during their off duty hours. Khmer nationals crews receive 300-400 HK$.
