- Story Text: The last Maltese-based Royal Air Force aircraft -- three antisubmarine Nimrods left Luqa airport on Wednesday (12 January) as part of the British "Operation Exit" from Malta.
The aircraft took off at a time when a major row between Britain and her North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) allies was browing over the amount British was prepared to offer Malts for the use of bases on the island.
