- Story Text: South Korea's waterskiiing team took a gold medal home on Sunday (November 6) after five gruelling days of tricks, jumps and slalom skiing at the 1994 Asian-Australasian Water Ski Championships in Kuala Lumpur.
Eight countries participated this year, with China and Singapore taking the silver and bronze medals respectively.
Jun-Ho Park of South Korea captured the gold in the overall category after winning in the slalom event and third in the men's tricks category. Roger Koa of Singapore took the silver after scoring 5,430 points in the men's tricks category. Bum-Jin Kim of South Korea took the bronze after winning the men's jump category with a 44.8 metre jump.
Shih-Tsung Chen of Taiwan was injured in the men's jumps as he landed awkwardly after twisting in mid-air and had to be rescued by lifeguards.
China's Mei Li Huang took the gold in the women's jump, scoring a total of 5,670 points, an Asian record, with jumps up to 35.3 metres. Karen Meeks of Australia took the silver and Fiona Nairn of New Zealand the bronze.
