- Story Text: More than a dozen people have been arrested in
Amsterdam after a pro-Palestinian march by several thousand of
people through the heart of the city began to turn violent.
At least 15 people had been arrested after a crowd of
protesters began hurling rocks at the some 300 police in riot
gear who were on hand to maintain order.
Thousands of demonstrators brandishing banners and
shouting slogans marched through central Amsterdam on Saturday
(April 13) to protest at the Israeli army's offensive against
Palestinian towns in the West Bank.
A Reuters reporter on the scene said there was a stand-off
on Dam square in the centre of the popular tourist city
between police and several hundred demonstrators, many
wearing headscarves and waving Palestinian flags.
