- Story Text: After his release from a Thai prison, Robert Lock, from Cambridge, England, was likely to spend Friday (March 29) night in a police cell because of delays in finalising paperwork for his flight home.
Lock was released late on Thursday (March 28) after police decided not to appeal his acquittal last month.
He was arrested with another Briton, Sandra Gregory, in February, 1993. Gregory has been convicted of drug smuggling and is now in a Thai jail. She claims Lock paid her to smuggle the drugs.
Lock refused to speak to media as he presented his papers to police on Friday. After speaking to officers at the station, Lock was unable to make arrangements to fly home before Monday.
Lock's mother, Lynda, who lives in Holbeach, Lincolnshire, has launched a bitter attack on the British Foreign Office for the bureaucratic delays in getting her son home.
Lynda Lock said any plans to celebrate had been put on hold until she could assess her son's condition.
